Caribou in the Gaspésie - On top of the Mountains

IMG_6805 sml

High in the mountains of the Gaspésie its possible to climb right into a tundra environment. A climb to the summit of Mount Jacques Cartier takes one into an other worldly experience. As you climb the steep terrain the trees shrink in size and finally disappear, leaving only tiny alpine plants and lichen covered boulders. It is here, where the clouds brush the mountain tops a small herd of woodland caribou eke out a living on the sparse plant life.
